Border Patrol arrest U.S. citizen wanted on child sexual assault warrant

HIDALGO, Texas - A U.S. citizen was walking back from Mexico when Border Patrol agents discovered he had an outstanding arrest warrant involving sexual assault on a child.

Florentino Ontiveros, 62, had an active, three-count warrant from the Nueces County Sheriff's Office for one count aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts for indecency with a child/sexual contact.

“Our officers have detected and arrested this person wanted on charges for child sexual assault,” said Port Director David Gonzalez, Hidalgo/ Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry. “CBP Field Operations is always ready to assist our law enforcement partners in locating individuals who are fugitives of the law so they may face the consequences of their alleged actions.”

In 2016, Ontiveros was charged for allegedly having inappropriate sexual contact with two minors under the age of 14.
