City leaders to learn more about $38 million City Hall renovation plans
SAN ANTONIO - City council is expected to learn new details about a massive project to completely renovate historic City Hall and bring it up to current standards.
Some of the new features include a wheelchair ramp on the East Side of the building. Earlier this year, a design competition was held for construction the ramp, which was won by a San Antonio architechtural firm.
In March, an inspection revealed the building's mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems are out-of-date and not in compliance with current city building codes.
The project will include a new heating and air conditioning system, new elevators, exterior masonry repair, new windows and drainage improvements.
The total price tag for the renovations is forecast to be about $38 million and was included in the 2018 budget passed by the council.
