Clothes catch fire, cause evacuation of West Side restaurant

SAN ANTONIO — Customers and employees at a West Side Mexican restaurant evacuated when a fire started outside.

According to fire crews on the scene, a pile of clothes somehow caught fire behind the El Chilaquil restaurant in the 1800 block of W. Commerce St.

Those inside immediately evacuated, but are safe. Investigating firefighters say the fire did not make it into the building and was put out quickly.
