Community Bible Church announces plan for $1.5 million public park
A major announcement from Community Bible Church on San Antonio’s Northside.
Pastor Ed Newton announced this week, plans to transform a grass area near the church’s parking lot into a 6-acre park.
“This space will be open,” said Pastor Newton. “You don’t have to be a member at CBC. You don’t even have to go to CBC to come and be a part of our park.”
The park will cost the church roughly $1.5 million. Construction is expected to begin this spring.
“I would continue to look at this space, and pray,” said Pastor Newton.
The park will be called, “Emmitt Park”, named after CBC’s founding pastor Robert Emmitt.
According to Pastor Newton, Emmitt Park will have 3 covered basketball courts, event pavilions, splash pad, amphitheater, playground, and concrete walking path.
"To have an ADA-compliant playground is a testimony that we are for all people,” said Pastor Newton.
Pastor Newton hopes the park will bring new life to the area. The project is expected to be finished by the end of 2019.
"Come dance in our park, come play in our playground, and know that you're loved here at Community Bible Church,” said Pastor Newton. “We love San Antonio."
