Dockless scooter curfew? City Council may vote to restrict when scooters can be used
SAN ANTONIO —
City Council will consider a new proposal to impose a curfew on dockless scooters around downtown San Antonio.
If approved, the ordinance amendments will require people to stay off scooters between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.
City leaders could also give certain city workers the authority to remove scooters that end up parked in areas where they shouldn't be, like sidewalk ramps, along the River Walk and in Alamo Plaza.
A staff report states that the city will earn more than $150,000 from fees charged to dockless scooter companies and that money will be used to pay for enforcement staff and education outreach.
City Council will vote on the proposed amendments on Thursday.
