POTEET — A suspect is dead after a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper shot and killed him Friday evening.
DPS tells us it all started when the suspect got in an argument with his wife in Atascosa County, which they're calling a domestic dispute.
The suspect has been identified as Felipe Martinez, the Bexar County Medical Examiner's office confirmed.
After the argument, the suspect traveled to Poteet and got in another fight with his father and his fathers friend.
During the argument, DPS says the suspect stabbed the father and friend, then took off.
DPS was then notified of the suspect and began to search for him.
They say the suspect was found in the 700 block of Rutledge Dr., in Poteet.
A second-year DPS Trooper found him and approached the suspect, according to officials.
They say that's when the suspect showed a knife and the trooper shot him, multiple times.
DPS officials tell us the suspect died at the scene.
The trooper who shot the suspect will take a leave of absence.
The Texas Rangers will continue the investigation.
