Drive-by murder suspect tells reporters to 'have a blessed day' following his arrest
SAN ANTONIO —
A man suspected of killing a mother during a drive-by shooting on the city's Northeast Side told reporters to "have a blessed day" as he was escorted to jail.
A San Antonio Police Department spokesperson said Tyrend White, 25, turned himseld in after seeing his face on TV. He was identified as a suspect on Thursday, just hours after the drive-by shooting on Coral Sunrise that left a mother in her 30s dead.
White may have voluntarily turned himself in, but he apparently refused to say anything to homicide detectives about the crime.
As he was escorted to jail on a murder charge, White was asked by reporters whether he was involved in the drive-by shooting. He responded by saying, "No, y'all have a blessed day, though."
He added, "Kiss my children and tell them I love them," and mentioned he would releasing a music video soon.
SAPD Spokesman Carlos Ortiz said detectives had enough evidence in the case to charge White with murder.
The victim had not yet been identified as of Friday morning.
