2 killed, 2 in critical condition after crash on West Green Mountain on Far Northeast Side (SBG San Antonio)

Two people were killed and two others were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on the Far Northeast Side.

The accident happened around 11:11 a.m. Tuesday along the 6000 block of West Green Mountain Road, near North Loop 1604.

Police say the driver of an SUV traveling south along a curve lost control, and the SUV veered into the northbound lanes and collided with a pickup truck.

Witnesses told police that 2 occupants were in a Dodge Durango traveling south on Green Mountain Road. The Dodge Durango passed passed a slower moving vehicle in the passing line, and began to slide due to the raining conditions. While the Dodge was sliding into oncoming traffic a GMC Sierra with two occupants was heading northbound and the vehicles collided in a T-bone fashion on the passenger side of the Dodge, forcing them both off the roadway.

The two people in the Dodge Durango, a man in his 30s and a man in his 20s, both died at the scene. A man and woman in the GMC Sierra, both in their 30s, were taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition.

Police believe the rain-slick roads may have contributed to the accident.

The victims' names have not been released.

There are no pending charges for this accident.
