Fredericksburg officials issue public health warning about rabid puppy
Fredericksburg officials have issued a public health warning about a rabid puppy.
They say the puppy and its owner were watching the Fourth of July parade on Main Street, near Hondo's. They also ate lunch at the restaurant afterwards.
Health services says the now deceased dog started showing symptoms of rabies a few days later.
The dog was described as a 13-month-old black crossbreed puppy wearing a pink collar on a purple leash.
Anyone who may have come in contact with it should call their doctor immediately.
