SAN ANTONIO -- As part of "Big League Weekend" in San Antonio, some major league eating took place at Sunset Station Saturday.
Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs hosted a good old-fashioned hot dog eating contest as a special treat for the fans. There was a female and male winner. Kassandra Zapata downed 11 dogs, and Crazy Legs Conti successfully wolfed down 22 dogs. We asked them both what it takes to be a champion.
"One day we were eating and I was still hungry, and everybody was like, 'How are you still hungry?' And I was like, 'I never get full'. So they were like, 'Maybe you should do an eating competition,'" explained Zapata.
"I consider victory not simply winning or eating the most," Crazy Legs Conti told us. "I consider victory knowing that the nature of competitive eating is a rocky one, not dissimilar from the weather in San Antonio."
Super fan Louis Gallo won free Nathan's Hot Dogs for a year, a $1,000 worth of groceries at H-E-B, and front row seats to Saturday afternoon's Rangers-Royals game.
