Senator John Cornyn is weighing in on former President Donald Trump's upcoming impeachment trial.

House speaker Nancy Pelosi will send an article of impeachment to the senate on Monday

With a trial coming about two weeks after that.

Senator Cornyn says congress should instead, be focused on Biden's plan to help Americans hurt by COVID-19; not impeaching the former president.

"It's unnecessarily vindictive, and I would say even petty to insist on trying somebody who's not even in office anymore," Cornyn said. "And sacrifice or squander, really, the ability to actually do what President Biden has said he wanted us to do and that's come together and get some things done."
