AUSTIN, Texas — How would you like to see the birthday of the late Queen of Tejano made into a state holiday?
Dallas-area state Rep. Ana-Maria Ramos (D-102) has filed House Bill 2492 in the Texas Legislature to make April 16th "Selena Quintanilla Perez Day."
The bill reads, in part:
April 16 is Selena Quintanilla Perez Day in memory of the contributions to Tejano music of Selena Quintanilla Perez, an award-winning singer and recording artist. Selena Quintanilla Perez Day may be regularly observed by appropriate ceremonies and activities.
This bill has a long way to go before becoming law, however, but that shouldn't stop you from dreaming of an official Selena holiday.
