In this new coronavirus world, there are angels among us.
One of them goes by the name Marion Thomas, CEO of Blessed Angels Community Center.
“We all have to work together. We’re all in this together," said Marion.
Typically, she and her team of volunteers at Blessed Angels give food to families in need.
But these are no typical days.
“With so many people losing their jobs, it’s just heartbreaking," she said.
So on Monday, they were at the community center working to fill that extra need.
Hundreds of bags filled with good healthy food.
And a little of the other kind too, just for the kids stuck at home.
“Have a little something sweet for them," said Marion.
Included in the bags are the medical face masks.
“We’re going to give a mask to each family member," said Marion.
A little something for everyone.
“We even have diapers that we’re going to be giving to the families," she said.
With people like Marion, we just might make it through this whole coronavirus after all.
Even if she doesn’t realize how San Antonio Proud she makes us all.
“It is just so amazing to know that I am making a difference and I’m one of those making San Antonio proud," she said. "I watch you guys every night and I’m always applauding everybody else, but I didn’t know it would be me too.”
Marion and her team will be giving away the meal kits during a drive-through event this Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Blessed Angels Community Center, located at 14078 Nacogdoche Road.
"All we ask is that everyone line up in an orderly manner, open up your trunk and we'll put the groceries in your car," she said.
Anyone with a need is welcome. Marion said all you have to do is give them a call to register at 210-284-4391.
