Man accused of trying to steal pre-cooked brisket by stuffing it into pants

SAN ANTONIO - A man accused of stealing a brisket from an H-E-B store was jailed and charged with theft.

Investigators say David Carl Perkins, 46, walked into a store and stuffed a pre-cooked brisket package into his pants on September 22.

He attempted to walk out, but was stopped by an off-duty police officer who was working security. The incident was also captured on surveillance video, according to arrest papers.

Perkins was arrested on Thursday.
