Man dies after crashing into police car
SAN ANTONIO - A driver is dead after slamming into a police car on Thursday night.
The accident happened just after 11 p.m. on the 6200 block of Tupper Avenue near West Southcross Boulevard.
Police said the driver of a truck, who hit the police officer, had just hit two parked cars and had blown through a stop sign before hitting the police car.
After being hit, the officer spun out and hit a utility pole. He was treated at the scene.
The man driving the truck ricocheted off the police vehicle off the pole and into a tree in a front yard.
He was taken to University Hospital where he later died.
Police said they are still investigating, and are looking into whether speed was a factor or if the driver was drunk before the crash.
