Police say a 30-year-old man was shot and killed after he allegedly attacked a woman and her uncle outside a Northwest Side home early Saturday.

Police and EMS were called to the 8300 block of Exbourne just before 6 a.m. Saturday. Officers at the scene said a man and woman, who police described as having a violent relationship, got into a fight.

They said the woman was attempting to leave and had just gotten into her car, when the man tried to stop her. According to officers at the scene, the man grabbed the woman by her hair and started to pull her out of the car while it was in gear. They said the woman’s uncle, who was also at the home, attempted to help his niece and was also attacked by the man.

The 34-year-old uncle was detained and questioned by detectives and later released.

Police are still investigating. Officers at the scene said video of the shooting was apparently captured by security cameras at the home.
