SAN ANTONIO — The owner of a Tesla helped police track down his car after he was carjacked by a group of masked men early Monday morning.
According to car owner, three men wearing masks surrounded his car, pointed a gun to his head and ordered him to lay down on the ground at about 3 a.m. outside a luxury apartment complex along Vance Jackson Road.
The owner says he had to help the thieves start his car before they drove off. He called police and they were able to track the car's movements using GPS.
Officers say the crooks ditched the car near the intersection of Creswell and Waycross on the East Side. A police helicopter spotted the men getting into a dark-colored SUV, but they jumped out a few blocks away and ran off on foot. One possible suspect was taken into custody.
The owner of the Tesla was not hurt.
"I was not worried about the car," he said. "I knew the police could track down my car with the GPS system. I just didn't want them to shoot me."
