Cynthia Lowry, 17, was last seen on Jan. 17 during her second period class at John Jay High School.

"Everyday is hard," said Cynthia Lowry's mother, also named Cynthia Lowry.

It's been almost 8 months since she has seen or heard from her daughter.

"Put yourself in the parent's shoes, if you don't know the whereabouts of your child," said Lowry.

Her family says her phone has been off since she went missing. They say they have received little help from law enforcement.

"From what I've seen, teens go missing and it's like 'oh, they're runaways and that's it, we're not going to put much effort into looking,'" said Lowry.

"This is a problem that's really not being addressed and over community needs to talk about it," said Dottie Laster, missing persons/ human tracking expert.

Cynthia is described as having brown hair and brown eyes, stands at about 5 feet 4 inches and has a scar on the left side of her forehead.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call her family at 210-396-2720 or the San Antonio Police Department's Missing Person's Unit 210-207-7660.
