KERRVILLE, Texas - Two children are reportedly dead and multiple people are injured after a car lost control at the 2nd Annual Kerrville Airport Race Wars.
Kerrville Police Department states that at about 3:20 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23, a vehicle participating in the drag racing event lost control and left the runway, crashing into parked vehicles and spectators nearby.
According to Kerrville Police, one child, a six-year-old male died at the scene. Another child, an eight-year-old boy, was pronounced deceased after being transported to Peterson Regional Medical Center in Kerrville.
Kerrville Police say four people were transported by air ambulances to treatment facilities:
Two people were treated and released at the scene, say Kerrville Police. Two children, a four-year-old male child, and a three-month-old female child were transported to Peterson Regional Medical Center by ambulance for precautionary evaluations.
Kerrville Police are conducting an investigation into the accident. This investigation is active and ongoing.
The Kerrville Race Wars is an annual drag car racing event held on the Kerrville Airport tarmac.
