NISD school board considering expanding PreK program
SAN ANTONIO —
The Northside Independent School District (NISD) school board is considering expanding its PreK program.
NISD's current PreK program is half day and only offered to military, low-income and a few other qualifying students. Proposed expansion for the PreK program could involve moving to full day and allowing non-qualifying students to attend, including possibly paying tuition.
Patti Sanchez, executive director of early childhood education, recommended the expanded PreK program because research shows benefits of early childhood education.
The school board has not finalized a decision on possible expansion.
