Off-campus shooting reported near Texas State University determined to be self-inflicted

Students at Texas State University were put on alert following an off-campus shooting that resulted in one injury.

An emergency alert was sent to students' cell phones at about 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday following a shooting that was reported to the school's police department.

According to the Texas State University police department's Twitter account, officers were searching for a male suspect last seen driving toward the school campus.

The suspect reportedly shot another person off-campus at about 3:30 a.m. He was only described as wearing a black shirt and pants.

The injured person was taken to a hospital for treatment. No other information was released regarding the incident.
