SAN ANTONIO- A new training facility is going up on the South Side to help bring all kinds of new opportunities.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place for a new education and training center on Wednesday.
It is designed to increase access to higher education services to people in underserved areas of Bexar County. This is part of a partnership between Alamo Colleges and Southside ISD.
Because of COVID, many people are looking to find new skills and according to officials, the facility will help provide the training that is needed in the community.
"It's really a facility and people will see it but what they hope that they'll take away in their hearts is that this is transformational change in the southside community and it provides opportunities."
"It's investment in the southside community and it's really gonna help our community to move forward."
The project is expected to be finished in the spring of 2023.
