The Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA, is getting a special helping hand in efforts of better helping neglected children.

The Texas Bar Foundation is giving the group, which is dedicated to helping abused and neglected children through the court system, a grant in hopes of recruiting and training more volunteers to advocate for the children.

“We are working toward a goal of providing a CASA volunteer to every child in State care to ensure they do not fall through the cracks of an overburdened system,” Blackwell said. “I am happy that, with this support from the Texas Bar Foundation, we will be able to recruit and train more volunteers, helping us get closer to our goal.”

The funds will also better support the volunteers while they are serving on a case.
