SAN ANTONIO -- A local recycling plant already facing numerous code violations and fines is in trouble once again.
Ascent Recycling and Consulting on Seguin Street now faces criminal citations and is at risk of being shut down if it doesn't comply by September 24th. The city has been asking the property operator to keep the parking lot in good condition, free from trash, debris, and dust.
The owner of the property also owes more than $11,000 in fines. Ascent used to operate on another property on Southcross but was shut down for illegally recycling metal.
“We have indicated to them all along they are responsible to be in compliance with all the city codes, and they really just haven’t done that,” said Assistant Director of Developmental Services Michael Shannon. “So we were forced to send them a letter and say ‘Hey, this is your last warning.”
Court hearings have been reset for October 4th. We tried contacting the property owner Tuesday but were told that person was unavailable.
