Street re-opened after gas leak forces hours-long closure

UPDATE 4:25 p.m.: Nacogdoches is now re-opened to the public.

UPDATE 2:47pm: Police say it will be approximately three hours before Nacogdoches is reopened. CPS Energy crews are still working to repair the broken gas line. Drivers should "use an alternate route."

UPDATE 1:10pm: Police tell us road maintenance workers hit a gas line while digging on the 2600-block of Nacogdoches and are working to evacuate the surrounding communities and businesses.


CPS has been notified and will be working to repair the break.

Emergency crews are at the scene of a gas leak on the Northeast Side.

Firefighters were called to the 2600 block of Nacogdoches, near Danbury Street.

Reports indicate nearby streets are being closed.
