Road rage incident leads to chase, deputy-involved shooting
Deputies arrested a man early Sunday morning who allegedly showed a gun during a road rage incident and attempted to make a run for it.
It all started at about 3:40 a.m. when deputies were flagged down for reports of a someone who flashed a gun during a road rage incident near NW Loop 410 and NW Crossroads.
A deputy spotted the vehicle and attempted to pull the suspect over. The suspect fled, leading deputies on a pursuit that started near NW Loop 410 and State Highway 151. The chase then led deputies into a neighborhood near Culebra Road and Ensenada. Deputies chased the suspect through the neighborhood and at some point began firing at him when he started driving toward them. The chase then continued out of the neighborhood and eventually came to a stop neat the intersection of Westover Hills Blvd. and and Highway 151.
Deputies arrested 21-year-old Pedro Edwardo Martinez without incident. He now faces charges of evading arrest/detention with a motor vehicle and unlawful carry of a weapon. More charges could be filed pending the investigation.
No injuries were reported to the suspect or deputies. The deputies who fired their weapons are 13 and 5 year veterans with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.
