San Antonio couple survives mass shooting in Las Vegas
SAN ANTONIO —
Wendy Spear and her husband were at the country music festival in Las Vegas celebrating their 23rd wedding anniversary before chaos erupted.
"The shots would get louder and then they would stop and then they would come back," Spear said.
As gunfire rained down on the crowd of hundreds, the San Antonio couple hid under a trailer.
At that point, they were not sure if the shooter was on the ground.
"We were trying to be quiet because really, honestly, we thought he could be coming," Spear said.
Jason Zamora guarded his wife as they ran through crowds of people on the ground.
"‘Is it the end?’” Zamora said. “‘Am I going to see my kids?’ And my main concern was just protecting her and getting us to a safe spot.”
