A San Antonio school athletics coach was arrested and is accused of sexually assaulting a child.

Records show Scott Everrett Dow was arrested Thursday afternoon. Police say officers were dispatched to St. Luke's Episcopal School shortly after 2 p.m Thursday to investigate a report of a sexual assault of a child.

They say a 14-year-old female student told a teacher in writing about the alleged assault. The teacher told the officers the student had complained about a headache before lunch, and the teacher sent the student to Dow, who is one of two coaches responsible for the health of the students and who dispense over-the-counter medication provided by the parents to the students.

The teacher said when the student returned, she was upset but would not explain why. The teacher was then able to get the student to write down why she was upset and that's when the teacher learned about the alleged assault.

Police say the teacher then notified the school's principal, who contacted the school headmaster and police were called. Officers interviewed the student, the teacher and the principal and were able to independently verify their accounts.

Police say that while the officers were interviewing the student, she gave them additional information about the incident. Based on that information, the officers located Dow in the school's gym and placed him under arrest. The officers said Dow immediately began apologizing to the school's principal and started to cry.

Dow is charged with Sexual Assault of a Child. His bond was set at $50,000.
