SAN ANTONIO — Gruesome details are surfacing from a deadly homicide where a teen is accused of murdering his mother. A second teen suspect was arrested and charged in the murder of a 53-year-old woman on Tuesday.
Daniel Saucedo, 18, is the second person charged in the death of Mary Dempsey. Her son, Matthew Dempsey, 18, was arrested on Tuesday night.
According to an arrest affidavit, Matthew Dempsey told police he and Saucedo went to his mother's home to rob the place. While the two were gathering items to steal, Mary came home.
When she turned on the lights, the two suspects attacked her with baseball bats. Matthew told investigators a kitchen knife was retrieved from the kitchen to cut his mother's throat. Duct tape was used to bound her and she was covered with a blanket.
They went through the victim's wallet and stole her credit cards and her 2016 Honda Accord and fled the scene.
Mary Dempsey's body was later found by a relative at her home on Stagecoach Lane.
After talking with the relative, police identified Matthew and found him later at a home on West Military Drive. During a search outside the home, police found a black trash bag with clothing with what appears to be droplets of blood.
Both Matthew Dempsey and Daniel Saucedo are charged with capital murder.
