The Seguin deputy chief of police took to Facebook Monday morning to let loved ones know that he was safe following the mass shooting in Las Vegas.

Deputy Chief Bruce Ure was injured by shrapnel that struck his right hand when bullets ran out at the Route 91 Music Festival on Sunday night. Despite his injury, Chief Ure was able to assist other victims who were injured near him.

On Facebook, Ure posted the shooter was 22 floors above his room. He guessed there were about 400 to 500 rounds fired.

"Sounded like a war zone," he wrote.
