Single mother, army veteran without pay during government shutdown
SAN ANTONIO - A single mother and army veteran is feeling the pain from the federal government shutdown.
No work and no paycheck for more than two weeks.
Brenner Stiles is reading a letter from her employer, The US Dept. of Housing and Urban Development.
For 19 days, no work and no paycheck.
She and 30 others in HUD San Antonio have been placed on furlough.
"Imagine your job giving you a letter saying they can't pay you," Stiles said.
The single mother and army veteran just wants to go back to work.
Stiles said there were things her and her kids used to do but can't now that she's on furlough.
"I'm really passionate and I really enjoy my job," Stiles said.
She's hoping the differences in DC can be resolved.
So she can make a difference in San Antonio.
