SAN ANTONIO - What should have been a routine traffic stop turned into a chase early Thursday morning.

According to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, the driver of an SUV refused to pull over during a traffic stop attempt and instead drove into a neighborhood near Loop 410 and Bandera Road at about 1 a.m. The driver slowed down and reportedly pushed a woman out of the SUV while it was still moving. She was not hurt.

Deputies say the driver then rammed a San Antonio Police Department cruiser. The officer in that car wasn't hurt either.

The suspect, described as a man in his 20s, was caught. He faces several charges, including evading arrest, unlawful restraint, assaulting a peace officer and driving while intoxicated.

Deputies said they were also looking into the possibility the SUV was stolen.
