A man suspected of stealing nearly $1,000 worth of briskets from a New Braunfels HEB store is now behind bars.

The New Braunfels Police Department says their officers "grabbed this case by the horns" and "corralled" 47-year-old Rene Lozano of San Marcos in Guadalupe County in connection with the thefts.

Investigators say "after marinating over the issue, the suspect decided to return to the HEB Plus on FM 306 and he spilled the beans." A warrant was then issued for Lozano's arrest, and he was arrested Wednesday.

New Braunfels Police say they "were udderly impressed with the help the community gave us by spreading the word and sharing our original post in the hopes of smoking out the Brisket Bandit."
