(WOAI/KABB) — Rishabh Jain, 17 and Aruj Khater, 15, go way back.
“We’ve known each other since we were young. Probably like two to three years old," said Rishabh.
Which is why they make such a great team mowing lawns.
It’s good money, but they aren’t working for a new pair of shoes.
“Yeah, I mean, we want to make money but for a good cause," said Rishabh.
As causes go, they have a pretty good one.
It started with a trip to India, taking food to people in the slums.
“As we gave them food, their faces just brightened up," said Aruj. "And it just clicked, and it made me want to serve the homeless.”
Inspired to do more, they came home and started a non profit called Dream Donations.
Mowing lawns before school is a way to raise the money they need to keep it going.
“We use that money to pay restaurants to cook meals that we can take to the homeless," said Rishabh.
They’ve partnered with several restaurants around town to cook meals at a discounted price.
“And then we take it to ministries that serve the homeless, like SAMMinistries and Christian Assistance Ministries," said Aruj.
“There are so many people in the world that are homeless and sleep hungry," said Rishabh.
“And we want to use our privilege that we have to help others," said Aruj.
