Thousands of dollars in equipment stolen from San Antonio little league

Thousands of dollars worth of equipment have been stolen in a string of robberies at San Antonio 5 Diamonds Ballpark.

The SA 5 Diamonds Little League is the only little league left on the South Side of the city, serving around 1,200 children during the Spring season.

"Now instead of doing the improvements, we're going back to doing replacement and repairing," said Elaine Ortiz, a player agent and board member of 5 Diamonds.

For more than two weeks, the thief, or thieves, stole a John Deere gator, a port-a-potty, shovels, steel rakes, brooms, batteries, exterminating equipment and other little league property.

"It's very disheartening and because we've never experienced anything like this so you know, it's devastating," said Ortiz.

A person was caught on camera stealing sprinkler hoses from near the field. He got away on a bicycle.

There is also video of a man driving off on the gator after breaking into a storage shed at the field.

"These people, they are just determined to take whatever they can."
