18-wheeler fire ties up traffic on Interstate 35

SAN ANTONIO — An 18-wheeler fire on Interstate 35 caused some big traffic tie-ups on the Northeast Side Friday afternoon.

The 18-wheeler caught fire around 4:15 p.m. Friday on the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 at Loop 410. Fire crews sprayed foam to try to put out the flames.

The highway was closed to allow crews to clean up the mess on the roadway and all traffic was rerouted onto Loop 410 West. All of the lanes were reopened by 6 p.m.
