Woman ejected after car hit from behind on Interstate 10

SAN ANTONIO -- A woman was seriously injured when the car she was driving was hit on Interstate 10 Monday morning.

Police say 23-year-old Lariza Carmona was traveling in the center lanes on westbound Interstate 10 just before 11 a.m. Monday. Witnesses told officers she had her hazard lights on and was driving at an extremely slow speed, according to a police report provided by the San Antonio Police Department on Tuesday.

Another vehicle then struck Carmona's car from behind, launching it forward. The driver's door flew open, and she was then ejected from her car, according to a police report provided on Tuesday.

Police say Carmona was taken by EMS to University Hospital in critical condition. The driver of the car that hit hers was also taken to University Hospital in serious condition.

Police said there was no evidence of intoxication, but the case remains under investigation.
