Elderly woman stands up to burglar as he ransacks home
(KTVT) Investigators are searching for the man who robbed an elderly couple as they lay helpless in their living room.
Suzy Alummuttil, 83, told police she was startled when an intruder forced his way into their home. She was lying in a hospital bed and her husband, who had just returned home from hospice care, was next to her.
Alummuttil said she watched as the stranger ransacked their home. He then walked up to her when she grabbed her phone to call 911 and her son.
"Tell me your name. Who are you? What do you want?" she says she told him as her terrified son listened on the other end of the line.
"All I could hear was some sort of struggle is what I can best explain it as," said son Saji Alummuttil.
The intruder tried to grab the phone, but Suzy held on. He eventually left with the keys to the couple's truck.
Suzy's husband passed away the next day.
According to Dallas media outlet KTVT, a doorbell camera was installed just two days before the horrifying attack. The suspect's picture from that camera footage has been released in hopes that someone will recognize him.
