Gainesville, Fla. (WGFL) — A University of Florida sophomore is in jail accused of forcing a woman to have sex with him inside the UF Keys Residential Complex Sunday.
University of Florida police charged 19-year-old Ian Fitzgerald Deal of Ponte Verda with sexual assault. He's being held at the Alachua County Jail on $275,000 bond.
An arrest report says the victim invited Deal over to her dorm to hang out but told him they were not going to have sex. The victim told police they were hanging out when he grabbed her by the neck, flipped her over and started taking off her clothes.
According to the report, the victim said Deal forced himself on her, despite her repeatedly telling him to stop. The report says he rolled over and fell asleep when it was over.
Police say the victim called police, who took her to the hospital for a rape kit. Police say they found Deal asleep, completely naked, in the victim's bedroom. Police say Deal told them they had consensual sex and that he did not use a condom.
Police say Deal asked for an attorney when they asked for more details.
UF spokesman Steve Orlando confirmed Deal is a sophomore studying construction management at the school.
The report says he was trespassed from the Keys complex.
