On The Run: Daniel Owens, wanted for allegedly using 7-year-old as human shield
The Bexar County Sheriff's Office is asking for your help finding 39-year-old Daniel Owens who is wanted for endangering a child.
According to Sgt Elizabeth Gonzalez, "On April 16, 2018 while patrolling his area, a deputy observed a black Nissan and the suspect believed to be involved in an incident involving Deadly Conduct with a gun earlier that day."
The deputy approached the suspect, who was with a young girl and adult female. When the deputy tried to detain Owens, he used the young girl as a human shield.
"The deputy pulled out his taser and told Owens to stop. However, Owens continued towards the 7-year-old and placed her in front of him preventing the deputy from being able to use the Taser on him," Gonzalez said.
Owens then pushed the child away and ran off.
"Another Deputy arrived to assist and recovered a handgun identified to be the firearm used in the earlier incident from the vehicle. Despite the search efforts of the Deputy and assisting Deputies, including K9, Owens remains at large and on the run." say's Sgt. Gonzalez.
