Our City Our History: Main Plaza
SAN ANTONIO —
Main Plaza is known historically and affectionately as the heart of the city, dating back to the early 1700's.
It's also home to the San Fernando Cathedral, one of the oldest cathedrals in the country. Citizens of what was then "New Spain" could do things like attend religious festivals and see parades.
Main Plaza holds a number of events throughout the year, including farmers' markets and the Saga Light Show in present day. The 24-minute light show tells the story of San Antonio from the very beginning.
