SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Pets Alive has rescued a 5-month-old puppy after she was found outside in the heat with her mouth bound shut. They say that she was left to die miserably. They also want to remind residents if you see an animal being neglected, report it immediately.
Bonnie Blue Eyes was rescued after she was found dying in the heat. Her mouth was bound shut. Her nose and mouth were pale and swollen from the lack of blood flow. She had missing hair, some scarring, and was bleeding from the tightly bound material. She was also covered in urine, dirt, and feces.
The San Antonio Pets Alive believes that someone intentionally left her like that to die and is not sure how long she was in that horrific state.
She was transported to an emergency veterinary clinic where she received a lifesaving blood transfusion and around-the-clock monitoring. She was also found weighing only six pounds.
Bonnie is still in critical condition and will be in intensive care for a couple more days. She is too weak to walk, but the shelter says she is in good spirits knowing that she is being helped and cared for.
As of right now, Bonnie’s medical costs are up to $2,000. If you are interested in chipping so that Bonnie can make a full recovery, CLICK HERE.
