Man fatally shot by girlfriend's father after vandalizing her car

SAN ANTONIO - A man was fatally shot by his girlfriend's father after he was caught vandalizing her car.

It happened around 4:29 a.m. early Sunday morning in the 5400 block of Joslyn Lane on the city's West Side.

Police say that the man, who was in his mid 20's, had driven to his girlfriend's home and was vandalizing her car when she and her father came outside to check and see what was happening.

The man charged at his girlfriend and her father, at which point the father shot him, according to police.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide will determine if the father is to be charged in the shooting.

It is unclear if the young man had any weapons in his possession.

No other injuries were reported and no other details were provided.
