SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police said an off-duty officer shot a 34-year-old man who managed to take his stun gun and tase him as he was being escorted out a local sports bar Saturday night.

Around 11:59 p.m. officers were called to a shooting in progress at the Twin Peaks located at 103 SW Loop 410.

According to authorities, restaurant staff asked a gentleman to leave after a disturbance took place inside.

After the man refused to leave, an off-duty Somerset Police officer, who was working security, escorted the man out of the restaurant for “being intoxicated and belligerent.” Police say the man was resisting and managed to grab the officers taser and tased the officer. The off-duty officer returned fire after being tased and struck the man in the chest. The man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The officer was also taken to the hospital as a precaution. The shooting is still under investigation.
