Teenage girl dead after accidentally being shot in stomach from suspect taking gun apart

SAN ANTONIO - A teenage girl is now dead after being shot in the stomach on San Antonio's West Side.

According to The San Antonio Police Department, the accident happened around midnight at the 11300 block of Woollcott Street.

Police say the suspect was taking a gun apart and it went off striking 17-year-old, Alea Briones in the stomach.

The victim was transported to University Hospital where she was pronounced dead around 1 a.m.

Detectives say witnesses were in the kitchen when the shooting happened inside a bedroom.

The suspect was taken with officers for further investigation.
