SAN ANTONIO - Ten high school seniors are getting help paying for college, thanks to a local non-profit organization.
The Puerto Rican Heritage Society gave out ten scholarships Saturday of $1,000 each to ten deserving high school seniors.
The students are from local public and private schools and were chosen based on their grade point average, extracurricular activities, essay and recommendation letters.
The students tell us they want to get degrees ranging from biology to aerospace engineering, psychology and political science.
The Puerto Rican Heritage Society relies on donations to make these scholarships happen.
As well as funds from their bi-annual festival -- which had to be cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic.

If you would like to apply for next year's scholarship, the non-profit teams up with the Minnie Stevens piper foundation to pick their recipients.
You can contact your high school counselor for the application.
