SAN ANTONIO - UT Health San Antonio broke ground Monday on their new $430 million hospital.
At the ceremony, they also unveiled the cornerstone for the new UT Health San Antonio Multispecialty and Research Hospital.
The new eight-story, 144-bed hospital will be a destination center for research and treatment of cancer and other complex diseases that disproportionately impact the people of South Texas.
In a nod to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ceremony was held virtually.
William L. Henrich, MD, MACP, president of UT Health San Antonio, welcomed academic, civic and community leaders from The University of Texas System, the city of San Antonio and Bexar County. Also joining the event were leaders from University Health, UT Health San Antonio’s primary academic training site for more than 50 years.
