Woman dies after being thrown from SUV following horrific head-on crash on South Side
SAN ANTONIO - A woman is dead and a man is in critical condition after a head-on crash on the South Side.
The deadly accident happened just after midnight Sunday off S. Flores Street & E. Dickson Avenue near SE Military Drive.
Police said the driver of a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer crossed over into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into 2004 Buick Rendezvous.
A woman in the Buick was thrown from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The other woman in the vehicle was is in stable condition at the hospital.
Firefighters had to cut the driver of the Chevy from the vehicle. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said that he was found to be intoxicated and will be booked by proxy for Intoxication Manslaughter.
The area was blocked off for several hours during the investigation and clean-up.
