Woman steps in to help friend after man attacks her, accidently shoots innocent bystander

SAN ANTONIO – A woman pulled out her gun to help her friend after she was getting physically assaulted by a man but ended up shooting an innocent bystander.

Police were dispatched to the 4800 block of W Military Drive at the Military Cove Apartments at around 2:50 a.m. for a shooting in progress.

According to officials, a man was involved in a physical altercation with a woman outside the apartment unit. That’s when one of the woman’s friends pulled out a gun and attempted to shoot the man assaulting the woman. Police say several shots were fired, but it ended up hitting an innocent woman bystander. The bystander says she knew the individuals fighting and was watching the incident from her apartment door when she was hit.

The woman was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Police found the man a block away from the scene and was detained.

The woman that was being assaulted and her friend that fired the gunshots were also detained for further questioning.

No other injuries were reported.
