According to a report from Yahoo! Sports, the anticipated return of San Antonio Spurs' Kawhi Leonard is on hold and will not be this Thursday versus the Pelicans as reported earlier this week.

If the quadriceps injury is hampering his return, the Spurs will not let him hit the floor to avoid further injury.

Historically, the Spurs take a very cautious approach when it comes to player's health. Add the fact Leonard himself won't allow himself to come back until he is 100-percent good to go, adds up to a delayed return.

The Spurs are on the brink of missing the playoff entirely and are currently 10th in the West. With game on their slate versus top teams and the Spurs having to survive without their star player, the team will have a tough road ahead of them if they want to make the postseason.

As it stands right now, things are looking bleak.

There's still hope he'll make it back to the court however if he does return this season, will it be too little, too late?
